Cuéntanos un poco sobre ti, ¿de dónde procede "Polymatsu cosplay"?

¡Gracias por tenerme en cuenta! Mi nombre es Polyvia, soy una diseñadora y artista gráfica de 20 años, y soy de Grecia. La mayoría de la gente me conoce por Polymatsu, que era un apodo que me dio un viejo amigo, porque en cierto momento de mi vida, estaba demasiado metido en el anime Osomatsu-san, por lo tanto, combinaba el anime y la versión corta de mi nombre que es Poly, Polymatsu nació!


¿En qué año comenzaste en el cosplay? ¿Qué te incitó?

No recuerdo exactamente, pero creo que fue alrededor de 2014 cuando tenía 15 años. Era un día gratuito de cómics, y en el sitio web había visto que si ibas a la tienda disfrazado de personaje, obtendrías más historietas. Hice un cosplay de Sanji realmente rápido, y ni siquiera sabía que se llamaba cosplay en ese entonces, ¡solo quería los cómics adicionales!

¿Qué tipo de personajes eliges cuando haces la caracterización?

Para ser sincero, voy por los personajes por los que generalmente siento algo, sin importar cómo se vean. ¿Los amo? No me importa cómo se vean, siempre que pueda relacionarme con ellos y sentirlos, los haré.


Hasta la fecha, ¿cuál es el cosplay del que te sientas más orgulloso/a por su resultado? ¿Y el más complicado de hacer, cuál fue?

Me siento muy orgulloso de mi cosplay de Draco Malfoy, solo porque pude satisfacer a muchas personas con mi aspecto. Especialmente niños pequeños, es realmente lindo ver pequeños humanos mirándote y viendo al personaje que aman. Lo más complicado fue la espada de Cloud Strife, porque tuve que hacerlo en cinco días. ¡Desde ese día nunca volví a crear!

¿Cuál es el método que usas para elegir el personaje que realizarás en tu próximo cosplay? ¿Realizas cosplay de personajes modificados u originales?

He hecho un par de Ocs, pero no los encuentro tan satisfactorios como modificarlos, porque tienes algunos pasos específicos que debes seguir para parecerte al personaje, y me encanta el desafío. Además, personalmente, me apego a los personajes, y cuando los adoro, realmente necesito convertirme en ellos.

¿Alguna vez has acabado incomodo/a con alguno de los cosplays que has llevado en algún evento? ¿Cuál fue la razón?

Un par de veces sí, solo debido a problemas de vestuario, como si el cuello de la chaqueta estuviera demasiado apretado, no podía respirar correctamente y cosas técnicas como esa. Afortunadamente, me han tratado bien.

En cuanto a los eventos cuando llevas el cosplay puesto, ¿sueles interpretar al personaje o te gusta más llevarlo por gusto y disfrutar del evento?

Yo diría una combinación! Me encanta meterme en el personaje, pero a veces simplemente no puedo hacer eso. Si hago cosplay de un chico malvado, lo que me encanta hacer (me encanta mirar a la gente) y la persona más dulce se me acerca, siendo amable, ¡solo tendré que devolverle la amabilidad y la dulzura, haciéndome perder el carácter! Vale la pena sin embargo!

 

¿Cuántos cosplay has realizado hasta el momento?

Para ser honesto, no lo sé, y no me gusta llevar un puntaje. He disfrazado de personajes de los que no tengo fotos, he hecho personajes en casa usando mis pantalones de pijama ya que solo el torso es visible en las fotos que estoy tomando, incluso hice personajes que no recuerdo haber hecho, ¡me lo recuerdan mis amigos!


¿Qué opinas de la gente que no respeta al cosplay? ¿Te ha pasado algo extraño fuera de algún evento?

Todos tienen su opinión, acepto personas a las que no les gusta el cosplay, sin embargo, no acepto comportamientos y comentarios groseros. Las personas que no respetan el cosplay no respetan las artes, por lo tanto, no respetan la cultura. Lo mejor que puede hacer es levantar una mano, bloquearlos y fingir que no existen, la ignorancia es una bendición cuando se trata de esas personas. No me ha pasado nada extraño, ¡afortunadamente!

 

¿Alguna vez has coincidido en algún evento con otro cosplayer que iba del mismo personaje? ¿Cómo fue tu reacción o cómo sería?

¡Si! Como mencioné antes, hago personajes que me encantan, así que cuando veo a alguien interpretando a mis personajes favoritos, ¡no puedo evitar ser alegre y tonto! Por lo general, les sonrío ampliamente y si responden, me acerco a ellos para hablar sobre el personaje.

 

¿Cuál es tu objetivo en el mundo del cosplay? ¿Lo haces como hobby o le buscas una salida profesional?

Mi objetivo es crear. Como diseñador gráfico y artista, tengo esos momentos en que una imagen me viene a la cabeza, y solo tengo que darle vida. Quiero compartir mis ideas y puntos de vista sobre cómo se sienten los personajes. Si me preguntaras hace un año, te diría que estoy tratando de ser un profesional. Pensé que hacerlo como un pasatiempo me hace crear mejores imágenes porque no me estreso y, por lo tanto, creo con alegría.

¿Qué consideras que es lo más importante para hacer a un cosplay memorable?

A una estafa, las interacciones con otras personas. Para estar en el personaje, pero amable también. En general, la fotografía que es el producto final de un cosplay, creo que juega el papel más importante. Siempre veo mis fotografías como una obra de arte.

A parte del cosplay, ¿tienes otras aficiones?¡Aparte del diseño gráfico que es mi ocupación, dibujo y actúo! También hago artes marciales. Los días en que no hago ninguna de las actividades anteriores, ¡leo libros, en compañía de buena música, o juego videojuegos!


¿Qué consejo le darías a la persona que está por iniciarse en el mundo del cosplay?No busques el centro de atención. Hazlo tu mismo. Hazlo porque lo quieres y porque lo amas. Te convertirás en tu peor crítico, puede ser difícil pero serás honesto. ¡Diviértete!

Tell us a bit about yourself, where does "Polymatsu cosplay" come from?

Thanks for thinking of me! My name is Polyvia, I am a 20 year old graphic artist and designer, and I am from Greece. Most people know me by Polymatsu, which was a nickname given to me by an old friend, because at a certain point in my life, I was too into the Osomatsu-san anime, therefore I combined the anime and the short version. from my name which is Poly, Polymatsu was born!

What year did you start cosplaying? What prompted you?

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was around 2014 when I was 15 years old. It was a free comic day, and on the website I had seen that if you went to the store in character costume, you would get more comics. I cosplayed Sanji really quick, and I didn't even know it was called cosplay back then, I just wanted the extra comics!

What kind of characters do you choose when you do the characterization?

To be honest, I go for the characters that I generally have feelings for, no matter what they look like. I love them? I don't care what they look like, as long as I can relate to and feel them, I will.

To date, which cosplay are you most proud of because of its result? And the most complicated to do, what was it?

I am very proud of my Draco Malfoy cosplay, just because I was able to satisfy many people with my looks. Especially young children, it is really cute to see little humans looking at you and seeing the character they love. The hardest thing was Cloud Strife's sword, because I had to do it in five days. Since that day I have never created again!

What is the method you use to choose the character you will perform in your next cosplay? Do you cosplay modified or original characters?

I've done a couple of Ocs, but I don't find them as satisfying as modifying them, because you have some specific steps you need to take to look like the character, and I love the challenge. Also, personally, I get attached to the characters, and when I adore them, I really need to become them.

Have you ever ended up uncomfortable with any of the cosplays that you have worn at an event? Which was the reason?

A couple of times yes, just due to wardrobe issues, like the jacket collar was too tight, he couldn't breathe properly and technical things like that. Fortunately, they have treated me well.

Regarding the events when you wear the cosplay, do you usually play the character or do you like more to wear it for pleasure and enjoy the event?

I would say a combination! I love to get into character, but sometimes I just can't do that. If I cosplay an evil boy, which I love to do (I love to look at people) and the sweetest person comes up to me, being nice, I'll just have to return the kindness and sweetness, making me lose character! It is worth it though!

How many cosplay have you done so far?

To be honest, I don't know, and I don't like to score. I have dressed up as characters that I don't have photos of, I've made characters at home using my pajama pants since only the torso is visible in the photos I'm taking, I even made characters that I don't remember doing, my friends remind me! !

What do you think of people who don't respect cosplay? Has something strange happened to you outside of an event?

Everyone has their opinion, I accept people who do not like cosplay, however I do not accept rude behavior and comments. People who do not respect cosplay do not respect the arts, therefore they do not respect culture. The best thing to do is raise a hand, block them and pretend they don't exist, ignorance is a blessing when it comes to such people. Nothing strange has happened to me, fortunately!

Have you ever met at an event with another cosplayer who was the same character? How was your reaction or what would it be like?

Yes! As I mentioned before, I make characters that I love, so when I see someone playing my favorite characters, I can't help but be cheerful and goofy! I usually smile broadly at them and if they respond, I walk up to them to talk about the character.

 

What is your goal in the world of cosplay? Do you do it as a hobby or are you looking for a professional outlet?

My goal is to create. As a graphic designer and artist, I have those moments when an image comes to mind, and I just have to bring it to life. I want to share my ideas and views on how the characters feel. If you asked me a year ago, I would tell you that I am trying to be a professional. I thought that doing it as a hobby makes me create better images because it does not stress me out and therefore I create with joy.

 

What do you consider to be the most important thing to make a cosplay memorable?

To a scam, interactions with other people. To be in character, but kind too

 

 

Apart from cosplay, do you have other hobbies? 

Apart from graphic design which is my occupation, I draw and act! I also do martial arts. On days when I don't do any of the above activities, I read books, in the company of good music, or play video games!

What advice would you give to the person who is about to start in the world of cosplay?

 Do not seek the center of attention. Do it yourself. Do it because you want it and because you love it. You will become your worst critic, it may be difficult but you will be honest. Have fun!
